In today’s culture of big box stores and national chains, the “old fashion family business” is often a thing of the past. but it is the commitment and partnership of family that has made International Tile & Marble the premier ceramic importer and distributor to Virginia and northeastern North Carolina for over 30 years.
Carl Sr., his wife Mary, and their son Carl, Jr. founded IT&M in early 1984. This skeleton crew managed all aspects of the business, from sales visits to bookkeeping, consulting with contractors and designers, and deliveries out the back of a single used furniture truck. Daughter Angie joined the business soon after college. Collectively, the Pope family based their business philosophy upon their own personal values: to provide the best customer service with honesty and integrity in all of their business dealings.
The business has grown from a small 2000 square foot commercial space in Norfolk to the current 22,500 square foot facility in Chesapeake. All two locations support attractive showrooms to provide the opportunity for design consultation, in-person customer selections and innovative displays of new products and materials for both residential and commercial applications.
Today, that initial crew is a little older, a little grayer and a little wiser. Thankful for the friendly, qualified personnel who now share in the mission, the entire staff of IT&M wishes to express their gratitude for the support and friendship of the many contractors, designers, specifiers and homeowners who have supported International Tile over the years.
